Until Next Time...

I wanted to give everyone an update:
Melissa and I were able to meet at the starbucks in grand haven last thursday - nobody else was able to make it, which was ok because it gave Melissa and myself a chance to get to know eachother a bit!
We both agreed it would take some time to get this group off the ground, so we thought until we had more people we would play things by ear and keep it pretty casual.
Just to summarize, this is what we discussed:
  • Next meeting sometime in February.  Next time we will probably meet at the Barnes and Noble in Muskegon - the location is bigger with more meeting space, and might be more convenient off the highway.
  • Brainstorm for some type of project at the next meeting - maybe a quilting bee of sorts and donate the finished quilt(s) to a charity.
Ok, I think that's all I have for right now.  I will keep everyone posted with news as I receive it!

It's Official - we're going to meet!!

I'm hoping that some or most of you will be able to make it.  If not then maybe we can wait another month or so and try again.
I'm planning on Thursday October 18th at 7:00pm at the Starbucks in Grand Haven (426 North Beacon, Grand Haven).  I know I had originally said wednesday the 17th, but work revised my schedule short notice :(
I have gotten a few responses from the last few posts and we are coming from all over, and of course we are all busy ladies!  Hopefully we can make something work.
I'm excited to meet all of you, and again thanks for your patience!

Let's Get Together

It's been awhile and hopefully everyone's summers are starting to wind down.  I think we should try and get together and maybe just say hello, meet, chat, brainstorm, and even create new projects that we all don't need :)
I'm kind of thinking the beginning of October - that will give everyone time to finish out their summers, get kiddos off to school, etc.  (My Mom is also getting back from Europe around that time and I know she'd like to come)
I know this is a bit far in advance, but what about Wednesday, October 17?
I was also thinking about Grand Haven?  Hopefully that'll be a halfway point for most of us.  There's a Starbucks or Panera Bread we could meet at.
Well, let me know.  I'm pretty flexible!
I'm very excited to meet all of you and get some stuff going!!!

Should we.....

Ok, so we've got a few people on board.....I think.  I know there are at least three of us in the area of west michigan.
So my question(s) are Should We....
Meet?
Start a project of sorts?
Wait for a few more people?

I'm down for whatever.  My summer is going to be a bit hectic, but I could start a project!  When do we say no to new projects?????
We could try and set up an informal meeting to get to know eachother and just chat.
Or we could just wait until we get a few more on board.

Let me know what you all think!!!

Getting Started

Hello everyone!  Thanks for stopping by - I am trying to get a MQG branch started in West Michigan.
I am in Muskegon obviously, but I wouldn't be opposed to Grand Haven Area or Grand Rapids.
I would love to meet and get to know some more modern quilters in West Michigan and start some fun meetings, workshops, outings - whatever.
Please post a comment if you're interested as well!  Hopefully we can get some people together and get the ball rolling.
I started this simple blog, but am hoping to improve it as we go along!  Please send any ideas my way!
Thanks
Sara
